Bracing up with new trajectory to fix the peculiar narrative - Sanni Inuwa Baba Someone once said, repeating the same thing over and over again produces the same result. Africa is a continent known for outstanding strides in every sphere of influence. The abundant deposit of resources found on the African soil makes the continent a great force. Nigeria for instance is always blazing the trail with her massive population, talented Human Resources and well-blessed Mother Earth for good habitation. Prior to the current economic state of comatose, many countries had had hope in Nigeria becoming one of the world powers someday. In the 70’s, Poland for instance noted that Nigeria was heading to the top class of economic powers. Our Naira was strong and intimidating; 75k-£, 60k-$1. Today, the narrative is different. Clarion call: In order to brace up with new trajectory to fix the peculiar narrative, the following must be put into consideration: 1) Sourcing for deliberate lea

We peacefully matched to the South African high commission to express our displeasure on the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Our demands are very simple: 1. We call on the Government of South Africa to put a stop to the killings and destruction of properties of citizens from other African states, with immediate effects. 2. We ask the Government of South Africa to openly condemn the previous and current xenophobic attacks. There should be no ambiguity as to the official stance of the South African Government on this issue. 3. All those involved in this blatant disregard to universal laws of humaneness should be brought to justice. Wanton destruction of lives and properties is a crime. 4. The victims of these hate crimes must be seen to receive justice. Justice should include compensation for loss of lives and properties. 5. The South African Government should commit their citizens to lawful engagement whenever they are aggrieved. Furthermore, there has to be a broaden
Zamfara: The need for an urgent Approach

In the past few months in Zamfara, the so-called unknown Gunmen have been gruesomely killing citizens like chickens. Last Thursday, more than 35 Nigerians were murdered in Kware Village and it was reported that the killers went back the next day and burnt many houses. Many Nigerians see this incidence as a form of conspiracy or a negligence in the part of the Government. The Government of Zamfara had been criticized many times for being unable to tackle the issues and at the same time, ignoring the increasing rate of the State’s destruction. It is however important to note that a state Governor can only give some logistics like Accommodation, vehicles, feeding of the Security Operatives etc. But he cannot in any way intervene nor give directives on any operations. During a security meeting last year between the state Governor and the commanders in Zamfara state, the Governor asked them to inform the general public if there was ever a time that he was unable to deliver any request
Frantic Days: Sanni Inuwa Baba

Frantic Days The last two weeks have been a very sad time for almost everyone around the world, ranging from natural disasters and self inflicted pains to our lives. Internationally, floods have been recorded in many cities, there was a plane crash and there was also a terrorist attacks. Back home, the story is even worse, just within few days, it was reported that over a hundred lives were lost in Kaduna State, countless abductions in Katsina, for Bauchi state- a whole Garrison Commander was shot dead, communal clashes in Benue State and in Zamfara State, Gov. Yari claimed that those on the killing spree in his state are better equipped than the mighty Nigerian Military. For many sane Nigerians, it won’t take a second to easily condemn killings of any person. For a matter of fact, it hurts so much to find animals being in conditions they won’t want to find themselves in. It even hurts more seeing how people decide which life is worth being eliminated. I stand to be corrected t

It was indeed a sad day around the world seeing how helpless men, women and children were being shot inside the mosque in Christchurch. Even More devastating for anyone who had the courage to see the video of the unfortunate situation. In Nigeria, the scenario of such a barbaric act isn’t new. Many worshiping centers have been regularly attacked and even bombed causing so much destructions and killing hundreds of innocents souls. For a matter of fact, entire communities are continuously being wiped out. The only difference between the two is the aftermath reactions from citizens, which would ultimately produce the kinds of response from the international community. Apart from the New Zealand PM’s condemnations of the killings in very strong terms, she visited the scene of the attack with almost all her cabinet members, met the families of the victims and assured them of the government’s readiness for justice and vowing that such incidence would never happen again in New Zealand.

MANY PEOPLE LEARNED HOW TO DRIVE BEFORE THEY EVER HAD THEIR PERSONAL RIDES. This is about preparing for the future you desire. How many of us learned how to drive before you got your own car? Alot of people will say "me". Why did we do it? We were preparing for better days ahead. ... How many of us moved into an apartment before you completed the furnishing and other fine things? However, we had faith that the resources to get them will fall in place gradually. How many of us saw or were absolutely guaranteed of success in our WEAC or JAMB or School results before we paid the fees? However, we believed if we studied and prepared well, our chances of success would be surer. We registered anyways. How many of us knew as many roads and places in the city you now reside before you moved or relocated there? However, we knew that overtime, we would learn the city, one street or district at a time. We relocated anyways. How many of us saw the qualifications of t

One of the most beautiful values that holds Nigeria is the ability of its citizens going through thick and thin together despite their differences. After each elections, it is obtrusive to understand the disunity amongst Nigerians. It widens by the day. The division is so loud that one would think the country would be in flames the next day. Most Nigerians are obtuse when it comes to the decision on who leads them. Their arguments are always on why their kith and Kin should be the one to lead them or why shouldn’t their kinsman be the one to lead? This is so unfortunate coming at a time when other countries vote based on ideas and new visible strategies. On the other hands, their debates should be respected because when a different region, religion or party has its candidate elected to an office, it is almost guaranteed that for the duration of the regime, there would be unsettled fracas and brouhaha. For some, the feelings of being marginalized affects their judgment towards

After making a great effort to eradicate the abuse of drugs in Katsina State, the new commissioner of Police who was recently posted to Kano, Mohammed Wakili, has again started making wonderful efforts in cleansing the ancient city. In recent times, there hasn’t been any commissioner of Police nor any Security Personnel including agencies like The NDLEA that has taken the fight against drug abuses and related offenses as CP Mohammed does. ... CP Mohammed who was disgusted by the level of how drugs have been abused by men and women, both young and old from every class in Kano, publicly affirmed his total commitment towards his aggressive clamp down of both the distributors and their buyers. According to a report by the NDLEA, it rated Kano as having the highest drug abuse cases based on the number of seizures, arrests of addicts and convictions of arrested dealers. Although the Hisbah has been making some efforts, drug abuse might not be their immediate concern neither is it a
