World Youth Skills Day 2025: Empowering Nigerian Youths Through Skills Acquisition
As the world commemorated World Youth Skills Day 2025, We The Youths, in partnership with Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, proudly empowered over 3,800 undergraduates through a transformative skills acquisition program. This milestone underscores our unwavering commitment to preparing young Nigerians for the future by equipping them with practical skills, entrepreneurial mindsets, and digital literacy.
In a rapidly evolving global economy, technical, vocational, and digital competencies are no longer optional — they are essential. As an organization, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, not just survive, and that begins with access to the right knowledge, tools, and support.
At the event, we were honored by the presence of Professor Busayo Fakinlede, Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering youth development through facility upgrades, entrepreneurship programs, and decent employment initiatives. His emphasis on the strategic importance of technical, digital, and social skills in reshaping Nigeria’s workforce aligns with our mission at We The Youths.
Professor Fakinlede also shared emerging innovations such as the integration of Artificial Intelligence in the maritime sector to improve national security and efficiency. He rightly pointed out that young Nigerians must continuously adapt and upskill to remain competitive in today’s job market.
Our Chairman, Engr. Azunna Chukwu, President of Emplug Group, echoed this urgency. He stressed the need for consistency in youth policy implementation, particularly around skills development, digital literacy, and job creation. He also encouraged students to focus on acquiring in-demand technical skills, commending We The Youths for providing this initiative at no cost to the participants.
This program is only the beginning. We are determined to scale up our trainings across Nigerian universities and communities, especially in high-demand fields like Artificial Intelligence, software development, renewable energy, and digital entrepreneurship. These are the skills that will define the next generation of leaders, creators, and change-makers.
At We The Youths, we are not just responding to today’s needs—we are investing in tomorrow’s solutions. Our youth are our greatest asset. When empowered, they don’t just change their own lives—they transform entire nations.
