International day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking

In commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, We The Youths joined millions of voices around the world in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of prevention, treatment, and recovery.

This year’s theme, “Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery for Everyone,” served as a timely reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and empower young people in the fight against substance abuse.

The event was opened with a stirring keynote speech by the Chairman of We The Youths, Engr. Azunna Chukwu, who reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to championing youth-centered solutions to drug abuse. He emphasized the importance of community engagement, mental health support, and creating alternatives through education and entrepreneurship. His call to action challenged stakeholders to move beyond condemnation toward compassion, support, and sustainable reform.

The event featured impactful presentations from distinguished speakers across various sectors:

    Head of Communications and Advocacy, We The Youths International

Each speaker brought unique perspectives, personal experiences, and actionable insights that deeply resonated with our audience and added tremendous value to the cause.

When we were growing up in the 80's and early 90's, the name of Plateau State alone was attractive. Tourists from far and near had no better place than Plateau. Combined with the amazing weather, the people were very accommodating and seemed to be more exposed than many from other places. There was a religious tolerance and parents thought their children on being respectful. The story has completely changed today.
