New year resolution

What I think:
As the New Year begins, we reflect on what happened last year. Of course for a whole 365 days, there were trials and tribulations. The mere thought of some incidences could make a heartbeat faster. And the thought of another makes one to smile and for a moment feel proud and accomplished. Some moments beat a person to his knees and other episodes make one feel like he could literally touch the sky.
Every New Year traditionally, is a period for regular self-assessment and appraisal. To many, it is the time to review the past in order to forge ahead with the ever complex and dynamic world of decisions.
As a person, I always appreciate the New Year feelings particularly as it affords the opportunity to solemnly reflect on a couple of issues. For 2017, I understood more that being a talkative right from the classroom is a major strength that can be harnessed to place one in a vantage position in a sphere of influence. What is required is working wisely as against working hard. A well-thought-out speech, idea-based coupled with a super-sense of oratory can generate super-income. Same is applicable to other underrated strengths. The point is working hard is far different from working wisely.
Unfortunately, a lot of people: individuals; organizations; governments etc. have missed in the principles of harnessing strengths and turning it into some productive or profitable advantage. Talking about government for instance, the administration of former President GEJ could not turn the Nigerian Army’s might into a great advantage to stop the menace of Boko Haram and other similar groups. It is the prayer of all well-meaning Nigerians that as the New Year begins, the government of today should carry out a SWOT analysis of its self and should effectively utilize her strengths to totally eradicate Herdsmen/Farmers Clashes, BokoHaram, Militancy etc.
