My Endsars Protest experience: Harassed by Men with Guns, Rescued by Women with hearts. -Sanni Inuwa Baba

Many Nigerians have stories to tell about the police brutality and extortions in most parts of the country on daily basis and others won’t get to, as they lost their lives.  Many sad stories could only be read in the newspapers and on social media platforms as the police brutality continued unquestioned.  The Endsars protests started from the social media before it reached the major streets of Abuja and Lagos, where youth came out in their numbers to demand and urgent reform of the Nigerian Police Force, an end to the Sars division, prosecute those found guilty and payment to victims. When we joined the protest ground in Gana Street, Maitama with Aisha Yesufu and Ibrahim Morrocco before we were joined by Maurin and Florence Ozor, there were already a lot of youth gathered. It was planned that we would peacefully match to the Police Headquarters and present our demands. When we started matching, we realized there was a new group waiting for us at the unity fountain, looking aggressive.

Know your Circle of Friends- Sanni Inuwa Baba

Most people genuinely keep friends around them, they wish to see them succeed and they are always there when assistance of any form is needed. They share every aspect of lives that concern. Unfortunately, there might be one or two of the friends that will be hell bent in discouraging them or dragging them back. It might not seem very obvious but their little sneaky words can be very effective. They have a way to strategically let you know that your dreams can’t be achieved.   So keeping people around you who don’t see the power in you is both very dangerous and harmful. It’s very suicidal especially when you have so much love and respect for them.  Gradually, you’ll unconsciously begin to be demotivated, hiding your potentials and eventually giving up and end of being a mediocre person.  However, according to some research, a person is less stressed when surrounded by supportive friends. Their presence gives one a motivation and an enthusiasm to keep moving towards a positive direction

Finding a way to end the rise of Rape cases in Nigeria

CSI Peace Foundation joined some concerned citizens and NGOs in protest for the rising cases of Rape in Nigeria to the Police Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja; demanding for State of Emergency on sexual and Gender-base violence in the country. As of June 2020, the Inspector General of Police said that Nigeria recorded over 700 rape cases. It is however, more unfortunate that some of the victims were also killed. We called on victims to speak up so as the culprits would face the law.
