Zamfara: The need for an urgent Approach

In the past few months in Zamfara, the so-called unknown Gunmen have been gruesomely killing citizens like chickens. Last Thursday, more than 35 Nigerians were murdered in Kware Village and it was reported that the killers went back the next day and burnt many houses. Many Nigerians see this incidence as a form of conspiracy or a negligence in the part of the Government.  The Government of Zamfara had been criticized many times for being unable to tackle the issues and at the same time, ignoring the increasing rate of the State’s destruction. It is however important to note that a state Governor can only give some logistics like Accommodation, vehicles, feeding of the Security Operatives etc. But he cannot in any way intervene nor give directives on any operations. During a security meeting last year between the state Governor and the commanders in Zamfara state, the Governor asked them to inform the general public if there was ever a time that he was unable to deliver any request

Frantic Days: Sanni Inuwa Baba

Frantic Days The last two weeks have been a very sad time for almost everyone  around the world, ranging from natural disasters and self inflicted pains to our lives. Internationally, floods have been recorded in many cities, there was a plane crash and there was also a terrorist attacks. Back home, the story is even worse, just within few days, it was reported that over a hundred lives were lost in Kaduna State, countless abductions in Katsina, for Bauchi state- a whole Garrison Commander was shot dead, communal clashes in Benue State and in Zamfara State, Gov. Yari claimed that those on the killing spree in his state are better equipped than the mighty Nigerian Military. For many sane Nigerians, it won’t take a second to easily condemn killings of any person. For a matter of fact, it hurts so much to find animals being in conditions they won’t want to find themselves in. It even hurts more seeing how people decide which life is worth being eliminated. I stand to be corrected t

Christchurch Mosque Massacred: Few lesson to be learnt

It was indeed a sad day around the world seeing how helpless men, women and children were being shot inside the mosque in Christchurch. Even More devastating for anyone who had the courage to see the video of the unfortunate situation. In Nigeria, the scenario of such a barbaric act isn’t new. Many worshiping centers have been regularly attacked and even bombed causing so much destructions and killing hundreds of innocents souls. For a matter of fact, entire communities are continuously being wiped out. The only difference between the two is the aftermath reactions from citizens, which would ultimately produce the kinds of response from the international community. Apart from the New Zealand PM’s condemnations of the killings in very strong terms, she visited the scene of the attack with almost all her cabinet members, met the families of the victims and assured them of the government’s readiness for justice and vowing that such incidence would never happen again in New Zealand.
