Is Marriage a Contract in Islam? (Shin Aure Kwangila ne a Musulunci?) Lately, a sister posted online that “marriage is a contract in Islam.” Some people agreed, but others became angry, saying marriage (aure) is not a contract (kwangila) but a sacred act of worship. To clear the confusion, let us look carefully at what Islamic teachings say — from the Qur’an, Hadith, and opinions of scholars.
